The Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1986. Since then, the chapter has inducted over 100 Italian American athletes from the greater Pittsburgh region. Some are nationally-known athletes, others are amateurs who made their impact on the local sporting scene. The inductees represent a wide array of sports, including baseball, football, boxing, soccer and auto racing.
Each year, the Pittsburgh chapter provides scholarships for area High School students in need.
The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame does not discriminate on the basis of sex, creed, ethnic background, national origin or physical disability.
